Hold my hand, Oh so tightly, Lord

I can’t seem to break free from the hoard

The battle is raging within and without

I stop and realize what this is all about

It is a war for my attention and soul

It seems bad habits want back their control

The deceptions took hold, entrapping my mind

Deceiving me. Oh, the trap, I’m not in it, I'll be just fine

Look at me, look at this, look at that.

Visual enticements, I am constantly in combat.

They slowly creep in with scenes that seem right.

But shortly, I realize I am in a fight

I have been caught in its snare

Now I wonder how, oh how did I get there

Lord, hold my hand. Please don’t let me go

These traps and pitfalls are dangerous, I know

They are designed to please my mind's eye, reeling me in

Next thing I know, the day is long gone,

And my time with you did not begin.

Time stolen and lost, only I don’t know at what cost.

Father, forgive me, for the lust of the eyes.

Paying homage to my flesh, I should despise.

Forgive me, because I know what I must do.

Look away from what reels me in, and be with you.

Repent and readjust, turning toward you is an absolute must.

Indeed, the battle is real, your heart and mind, Satan sets out to steal.

You linger too closely to Satan's pit; your mind is weak due to the habits you set.

Yes, repent and adjust.  My love and forgiveness, you should trust.

I will help set you free. I just need you to be in my presence continually.

Don’t delay in seeking my face. I love you, child, you are not disgraced.

Stay close, I am here, teaching you and guiding you on how to stay near.

You are learning, hold on to my hand, don’t fear.

Battles are won each time you move toward me.  You realize this, I know, you do see.

Yes, listening is good; it is what needs to be done well.

My words are power, hope, and strength; on them you must dwell.

Peace, I give you, not as the world gives, peace is where your Father lives.

Now you're just telling the truth; the distractions/temptations are real in this instant access, technology-driven (often vapid) time. Wonderful reminders to refocus our attention on what/who is truly important.
