I Am a Child of The King

My soul is emptying, growing

parched, and dry.

I need reminding of your love,

not just by and by

The world closes in, narrowing my view.

My thoughts are clouded with

things not you.

Confusion sets in, doubt takes hold.

Worry lingers, and is dangerously bold

Others’ views and thoughts are important to me,

In my mind they gain hold, and I begin to agree

What he thought, what she thinks

Something about this really stinks

Voices I hear saying I am this, I am that

Come on, believe it, it is true, matter of fact

But when my soul is empty, growing parched and dry

It leaves room for this particular enemy guy.

He says this, He says that; most of which is untrue

No worries, I know just what to do.

I know one Word, one Name above this wall

Where my soul-thirst is replenished, and living water restores all.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus; with this name comes peace

Confusion, doubt and worry all begin to release

As the battlefield clears, the truth is soon revealed

I am His blood-bought, and sealed

God’s enemy is always trying to steal me away

But the Name of Jesus keeps him at bay

Time with my Father is a precious thing

For our enemy knows, I am a Child of the King

'And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of those that kill the body and, after that, have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, who, after being killed, has power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.'  St. Luke 12:4-5 JUB

And hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. St. Mark 10:47 JUB
