As I look at myself and not at You

What imperfections I find and view

Lack of love, a judgmental heart

Oh, and my selfish attitude

My ways are far from Your ways

My heart is blind to see

The many imperfections which dwell within me

A gossiping mouth, a jealous eye

The hand that refuses to give

Looking within and seeing the truth is painful to behold

Hatred, Envy, Self-pity, and pride. What am I to do?

Forgive me Lord, for I have sinned before your Holiness.

The reflection that I see today brings sadness to my breast.

When I stray from you, and do as I will, lost in me, myself, and I.

My days are my ways, my hours I empower; I tell myself this lie.

Joy fades, my mouth turns to complaining; beckoning my enemy in

The world is confusing; fear settles; and my heart-light grows dim

Sit still, my spirit, sit still, my soul, and listen for His voice

Your Lord, Your Savior is always near; run to Him and rejoice.

The imperfection is only a reflection of what you used to be.

My heart is being renewed as His Spirit teaches me.

Disciplined and loved as God's child, the order of the day

Whispers of correction, a gentle hand of rebuke

Keeping me from harm’s way.

Exposing; a view of unrighteousness

All the while loving me to repent

Revealing the reason He died for me and to all He was sent.

How gracious you are, my Lord and King

Removing the sin from me.

Without you I am mere prey for my enemy

Nothing separates me from the Love of God

I am never left alone

He helps me overcome every sin that besets me

I cry Abba Father... because I cannot make it on my own

~~~~~~~
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or
hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 8:35-39 NIV
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,   Hebrews 12:1 NIV
who can have compassion on the ignorant and on those that are in error; for he himself is also compassed with weakness. And by reason of this he ought, as for the people so also for himself, to offer for sins. And no one takes this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. So also the Christ did not glorify himself to make himself high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son; today have I begotten thee. Hebrews 5:2-5 JUB
Sincere and heartfelt...just beautiful. A true testimony to what it feels like to seek our Lord.
