The Battle is Won

Lord my God, I am overwhelmed by your greatness

I am in awe of your strength

Your song of love penetrates my heart

I am defenseless

I think of you, and I pause

What I have learned of you fills my thoughts

Rest and peace are the gifts of the day

Your Spirit fills my being, as the battles rage

Woe to my enemy, Woe to my foe

Father has protected me from your every blow

I rest under the wings of my almighty God

I am shielded, and my feet are shod.

As life storms brew, and the gales grow strong

My trust-belt is tightened, and my faith hangs on

I don the breastplate of righteousness,

His bloodshed for me

In my battle stance of quiet rest, and on bended knee

Salvation, the helmet I wear

Rescued me from judgment and death’s snare

The Word of my Father penetrates and divides my soul

This double-edged sword reveals the truth; I have no real control.

Surrender is the option, for the battle is already won

Surrender is the secret to living close to the Holy One.

Give up your life, to gain it again

Thus says the Lord Jesus, my companion and friend.

Stand and be still, and watch the mighty hand

of the one true and living God

Watch and see what I will do.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow.
